Doom featuring Mos Def Event!

Well I came a few hours ago from this concert even in Chicago at the "Congress Theater" with one of my roomates.

I believe this guy called "Doom" (A.K.A MF Doom or Madvillian) is the feature guy of Xela's avatar for awhile on Steam, didn't know that!

Well my roomate told me about it today, and he had two free tickets to the event, so I went with him! Heres a blog post of how it went, cause I feel like blogging.

"We got there by Taxi since the bus sucked ass and didn't come by to us, I paid $9 for a quick trip. When we got there, we had to stand in a line of one side of a block to get inside. Cold as hell outside, and my stomach starting acting up in line. I say it was the messed up food I ate.

When we got inside, got some DJs playing, pretty good stuff. First act people hated to death, gave them the middle finger throughout lol. It took actually a hour for that first act to even come out! Actually by the time we got INTO the stage area, an hour and half had at least passed before we though the thing would start, so we rushed for really no reason, shoot.

So yeah! After them, some freestyle acts, tight stuff. And this one guy who did DJing with video, hot stuff there! THEN! We wait about another hour for an act, and by this time we haven't seen any Doom or Mos Def. It's about 12 AM, the show was supposed to start at 7PM and possibly end by 11PM.

So around 12AM, the place announces Doom Mos Def should be on soon! By this time everyone has been rowdy as fudge, one guy jumped on the stage and then splashed water on everyone, which prompted the whole audience to do the same toward the stage, rowdy as crap! Finally "Doom" comes out! That is, until "Doom" removes his mask to reveal it was actually Mos Def. My roomate was threw with this, and we decided to leave. Pretty sure Doom didn't even come, and man I wanted to see this guy, but my roomate was even more down by this, since he's a big fan.

Took ANOTHER cab back, it was $8.35 for my roomate this time since I paid the last one. Taxi guy didn't take 20s since no change, so I had to pay this one with debit. Roomate paid me back $8, no prob though cause it was no deal, he DID take me to a free concert, despite the letdown."

So yeah, fun times even still! I did though with the stomach ache thing have a big problem. I stood most of the time, and I was in agony, my hands even went numb at one point, which was troublesome. Doing better now I think!

    Aw bummer dude! MF Doom is awesome! Madvillainy is one of my favorite albums of all time. Mos Def is good too, but Doom is definitely the star of the show. He has a huge underground hip-hop following. Sucks that you didn't get to see him, but at least it was a night out on the town. Usually at concerts I don't know how to act, I'm not a rowdy guy so I usually stand there with a beer and just enjoy the music. Doom is a nice guy too, no idea why he wouldn't show up.

    Yeah wouldn't know either xelA, people been saying those that his last concerts he's been lacking badly but they could of just been about the event itself haha. Also some rumors say he has people go lip sync his songs on stage with a mask but then again I can't say it's true for that.

    But hey before then didn't really know about Doom though! Now i'm gonna check out some of this guy's stuff, listened to a few tracks and he has a solid smooth style about him, likey likey! Oh yeah and at the club i'm too mellow lol, I stand in the crowd and bop my head like a cherry dipper bird.

    Speaking of which, imma post a thread on getting free music without worry of much peer sharing problems. Thanks for the wishes and good word on Doom Alex.

    Oh yeah. here's two videos i've seen so far, pretty decent stuff!

    I like the first video mainly with the video they've got, super creative. The lyrics are good with this too, it's just easier to enjoy them when not looking at the video, to absorb the idea better.







    Didn't watch this vid but I liked what he had going!

    Yea both of those songs are off Madvillainy. My favorite album. You gotta listen to it beginning to head with headphones, it's incredible. He has done so many albums under different names with different people, I have almost 1000 songs by just him on my iPod. 964 to be exact.

    I just heard he has been doing this for a good amount of shows lately. Seems pretty out of character for him. Just heard a rumor his brother died in an accident but I cant confirm or deny that. There has to be a good reason though, this isn't like him.

    MF Doom is one of the all-time champs, and I'm currently bumpin' some goodness from his Special Herbs, but it's unfortunate to hear that. His show in Toronto got bumped back to the 25th so I might still try to catch it.

    As an aside, I have both Accordion and All Caps from iTunes and they're both such damn good videos. The video for Rhinestone Cowboy is a lot like the one for Accordion.

    If I can get tickets I'll see you at the toronto show.

    I heard its because he does shows for people to hear his music, and not see him. He says music should be about the music and not who makes it, so him being there isnt necessary as long as you hear his creation.

    That's basically what The Beatles were doin' in the late 60s and there's nothin' wrong with that, though it doesn't bring home the pay all that well.

    Whoa I missed some good conversation here looking back at this blog post! Thanks for the awesome input here folks, love it. I've been getting more into my varied music interests lately myself, really just exploring that. Just wanted to throw this update out haha. Also I've falled in "love" with Mos Def, hot music, now it's time for DOOM!
